Wm. Gilbert Clock Co. “General”,ca. 1891. The refinished oak case is 29 inches tall with lots of incising, carvings, and appliques. The door glass is
a modern replacement with the correct stencil, but the word ‘National’ applies to a National Calendar Clock Co. clock that was made
by Gilbert and used this glass. I suppose you could scrape off the lettering with a razor blade. The dial is old, unsigned
paper, the hands are correct. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed and running, striking on the Gilbert cathedral
gong; there is an alarm hooked up but not tested. Use your cell phone or Alexa if you need an alarm. There is a high-end
Gilbert pendulum included and a label on the back. Ly, Gilbert Clocks page 329. One sold at Conestoga Auction Co. in January
for $160. $250-$500.
