59.               $400

Chauncey Ives pillar & scroll, 1824-1830. Chauncey Ives worked in Bristol, CT, and was later a part of C. & L.C. Ives.  Good mahogany veneer and a clean finish, with an old/original dial glass and an original lower glass and tablet; the brass urn finials are on brass posts.  The tablet has been touched up extensively, but I am still not sure what it is depicting.  Lots of gilded gesso on the wooden dial, with proper period hands.  The 30-hour time-and-strike wooden movement is running and striking, with two period weights, pendulum bob, crank, and door key.  The tin dust covers on top are modern.  A good label inside.  $400-$500.
