52.               $400

Samuel Terry pillar & scroll, 1827-1828. A near-flawless 31-inch clock made by Eli Terry’s brother (in cahoots with Eli) early in his career, while still at Plymouth; in 1828 he moved to Bristol.  A clean case with good veneer, one scroll tip repaired; two old glasses, tablet repainted by reverse-painting virtuoso Lee Davis, three brass urn finials on wooden posts and two new tin dust covers.  The dial is clean, the hands period, the 30-hour time-and-strike wooden movement running and striking.  Great label.  Includes two old weights, bob, crank, and door key for working latch.  Immaculately restored by Jeff Villet.  $400-$600.
