48.              $750

Forestville Manufacturing Co. ripple-front sharp gothic with fusee movement, 1842-1849.  A 20-inch case in mahogany with an old/original finish and ripple trim around the front. Finials are period/original, the glasses are old but may be replacements.  The Fenn-style tablet has good retention of the pattern and color.  The contoured metal dial is certainly original, showing wear, and the hands are period but not typical for this manufacturer (J.C. Brown).  The signed, 8-day, time-and-strike fusee movement won’t run but will strike on the wire gong.  This combination of ripple front and fusee movement is uncommon – I found only four examples in the Antique Clocks Price Guide (spanning 20+ years), with a sale in 2016 at R.O. Schmitt’s for $900.  A stained label inside.  $750-$900.
