Antique American Clocks July 2022
36. $750
Southern Calendar Clock Co. “Fashion No. 3”, ca. 1878. A 32-inch solid walnut case with an uneven original finish and patina. The door glass is original with the original lettering. The painted dials are likely original and show wear, crackling, and warping. The hands are correct. The 8-day, time-and-strike
movement was made and signed by Seth Thomas, made for the ICCC, and is running and striking on a large brass bell. It is regulated
by a proper star pendulum that lacks the leaf decoration (as is common). The RT Andrews calendar mechanism is working but the
rod from the movement needs adjustment, as the weekday roller and date hand are not quite advancing; the rollers are too dark to be
legible. The finials are proper replacements; there are no labels. A very original example. AAC sold two a year
ago for $900 and $750. $750-$900.
