28.             $250

Welch, Spring & Co. “Italian No. 1” calendar,ca. 1872.  A 17.5-inch case veneered in rosewood with full columns on the sides and carved pieces between the dials.  This is an uncommon model; I can find only two sales on the Antique Clocks Price Guide.  The calendar model is shown in Ly, Welch Clocks, Second Edition on page 173, although the decorative work between the dials differs from that found here, and there are many examples of this model without the calendar.  Both glasses are period/original, the dials may be old repaints.  The hands are correct as best I can tell.  The 8-day, time-only movement is signed EN Welch and is running; the calendar will advance but the calendar movement in the lower dial is loose and will need to be secured.  There is a good black and gold label inside and a good blue label on the back of the calendar.  Schmitt’s sold a similar example in 2015 for $325.  $250-$400.
