Antique American Clocks July 2022
21. $500
E. Howard & Co. “No. 70 Regulator”, ca. 1900. An
oak case (31 inches long) with a 12-inch dial. The case shows modest wear on an old finish, the dial glass original, the
lower glass old and either rebacked or repainted. The dial is also period but a likely substitute for the original. The
hands are correct, the 8-day, time-only movement is running fine, driven by a No. 70 weight and regulated by a pendulum bob that shows
much wear and no damascening. There is a label on the original wooden weight shield and a complete pendulum tie-down. AAC
sold a similar example last summer for $750. $500-$800.
